Substation automation system under test

Quality and testing

Verification, not design alone, makes a protection panel. Type tests are completed in our own laboratory, KEPCO certified tests follow, supplier qualification is registered, and only then do products ship.

In-house test laboratory

Type and factory acceptance tests of IEDs and panels are carried out at the Incheon headquarters. Faults are reproduced with a power system simulator to verify protection behaviour; environmental and EMC tests are run with accredited institutes.

RTDS TEST LAB

RTDS test laboratory

At our Incheon headquarters we built and run our own RTDS TEST LAB, equipped with an RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator) for real-time power system simulation. Fault conditions identical to those in a real substation are reproduced to verify the operating reliability of protection panels and key devices.

SA TEST LAB

SA operating system test laboratory

A dedicated integration laboratory that mirrors the real operating environment lets us bring 154 kV substation automation (SA) systems to site as tested. Multiple control panels and monitoring systems are linked so that HMI supervision and control and the communication network are verified as a whole before delivery.

Verification process

  1. Design reviewProtection scheme, ratings and interfaces are confirmed against the customer specification.
  2. Type testFunction, performance, environmental and EMC tests on a representative prototype, with reports.
  3. Certified test and qualificationKEPCO equipment tests are passed and supplier qualification registered per product type.
  4. Factory acceptance testInsulation, operation and communication tests on every unit before delivery.
  5. CommissioningSystem integration tests and protection coordination on site, then handover.

Certifications

We operate quality (ISO 9001), environmental (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (ISO 45001) management systems, and hold KEPCO KTP certification and New Excellent Product (NEP) certification.

KEPCO supplier qualification record

We speak through registrations and certifications rather than brochures. KEPCO supplier qualification and NEP certification are granted per product type after testing.
